When you visit the OLogy site, you agree to follow the rules that we describe below. These rules are called the "terms and conditions" for using this web site. If you don't agree to follow these rules, then we can't give you permission to use this site.
1. Copyright: All of the content on OLogy is either owned and copyrighted by the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH), or authorized for use on the site. Unauthorized use of the content on OLogy is prohibited.
2. Personal use: AMNH grants users permission to download content from OLogy for their own personal use, but they cannot use OLogy content in anything that they present or distribute to the general public, such as their own web site, without prior written permission from AMNH. Permission may be sought from the OLogy site manager at ology@amnh.org.
3. Fair use: AMNH grants permission to educators and students to use content from OLogy in presentations, posters and bulletin boards, assignments, or other public activities that take place in a classroom or other group learning environment, consistent with the fair use provisions of 17 U.S.C. Section 107.
4. Disclaimer: OLogy allows registered users to collect OLogy cards, to view and organize cards on their user's home page, and to create projects with the cards. The OLogy cards in a user's collection or projects remain the property of AMNH. AMNH makes every effort to maintain users' homepage, collections of OLogy cards and projects. However, AMNH is not liable for any damages or losses that users may incur when using this site, including loss of information on a user's homepage, collection, or projects, and AMNH reserves the right to modify or remove OLogy cards from circulation without giving prior notice to users.
5. Inactive accounts: AMNH reserves the right to deactivate the screen name, and remove the user's homepage, collection and projects of users who have not used their account for more than six months. Since AMNH collects no personally identifying information about OLogy users, AMNH has no way to contact users to notify them that their accounts will be closed.
6. Content submissions: OLogy users can submit projects they have made to OLogy for possible publication on the OLogy site. OLogy also contains polls and questionnaires that request comments from visitors. Any project submitted, or any other information submitted to OLogy can be used by AMNH on the OLogy site, or other AMNH web sites, publications, or educational materials. Users are not compensated for any submissions to OLogy.
7. Illegal or offensive behavior: AMNH reserves the right to deactivate the screen name of any user who submits information that might be libelous, obscene, threatening or offensive to a reasonable person, or information that compromises the identity or security of any visitor to OLogy.
8. Changes: AMNH reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions to reflect changes in content and service offerings on OLogy. Visitors should check back here to learn of any changes we make to these terms in the future.
